Garth Brooks To Perform At Biden's Inauguration

Garth Brooks will join Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga in performing at at the U.S. Capitol tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 20th) as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States. Garth shared the big news via a Zoom press conference yesterday (Monday, Jan. 18th).

He told reporters: “This is a great day in our household. This is not a political statement. This is a statement of unity. This is history! And it’s an honor to get to serve. This is kinda how I get to serve this country. Our father served as a United States Marine in the Korean War; we had brothers that served in the Air Force and the Army. This is my chance to get to serve.”

Garth is hoping that his performance will help unify people from all walks of life. He said: “In this case, you must rise beyond red and blue. You must rise beyond Black and white, gay/straight, male/female. Look at it from above. Look at it as America. And that’s always kind of been my thing. You are all welcome at a Garth Brooks concert. And then the whole mission of a Garth Brooks concert is for the people that come watch the show to leave the show loving each other more than when they came in. That’s never going to change for me.”

Garth previously performed at an inaugural concert for Barack Obama. He was asked to perform at Donald Trump’s inauguration but had a prescheduled tour date.

Tennessee Lawmaker Introduces Bill To Build Dolly Parton Statue At State Capitol

Hail to the queen!  Everybody LOVES Dolly, who was born and raised in the Smoky Mountains.
And the proper way to honor the country legend is with a statue at the State Capitol in her home state of Tennessee.

Thats exactly what congressman John Mark Windle has proposed in a recent bill. According to CNN, the statue would be placed on Capitol grounds in Nashville, and would be commissioned “to recognize her for all that she has contributed to this state.”

If it's commissioned, the Parton sculpture will face the historic Ryman Auditorium, a music venue where she's played throughout her career.

Dolly has made so many contributions to her native Tennessee, like her recent million dollar donation to Vanderbilt University to help find a coronavirus vaccine last year.
