Local Events and Celebrations

Monday, June 8, 2026: "Richmond Community Orchestra All-American Outdoor Concert." Richmond Community Orchestra's concert at Glen Miller Park's band shell features music by American composers, ranging from jazz/swing to classic Americana and patriotic tunes. 

 

Tuesday, June 9, 2026: "The American Revolution--How Indiana Was Impacted." Presented by Stephen Jackson at Anderson Public Library- Anderson, IN.

 

Saturday, June 20, 2026: Coffin Bicentennial Series The Underground Railroad Levi and Catharine Coffin’s work with the Underground Railroad started in the years before they came to Indiana. Get a full history of the Coffin’s commitment to aiding freedom seekers from their childhood through the Civil War, at The Levi & Catharine Coffin House & Interpretive Center.

 

Saturday, June 27th, 2026: Preble County Veterans Picnic12:00-2:00pm. All Preble County Veterans are FREE thanks to the Eaton Rotary Club. Guests are $10. at Preble County Historical Society, 7693 Swartsel Road Eaton Ohio 45320 (St Rt 122S) near Gratis. 

 

Saturday, June 27th, 2026: Annual Fireworks and Live Music Festival! at Preble County Historical SocietyPreble County Historical Society hosts the fireworks and music festival at 7693 Swartsel Road Eaton Ohio 45320 (St Rt 122S) near Gratis. GATES OPEN at 4:00pm. Music by Flat Out! Fireworks start around 9:45pm- but come early! Food Trucks on Site!

 

Saturday, June 27th, 2026, 2pm-6pm: Celebration Plaza in White River State Park: Indiana State Museum hosts an outdoors event at to celebrate America’s milestone birthday! Bring family and friends to discover the science behind fireworks, collaborate on a community mural and enjoy hands-on activities all afternoon.

 

Friday-Sunday, July 4-6, 2026: “Liberty Fourth of July Festival.” Celebrate Independence Day Weekend at the Union County Courthouse Square in Liberty, Indiana with a classic, family-friendly festival featuring live music, vendors, food, games, and community activities all weekend long. Admission is free and open to the public. (uc-connect.org)

 

Friday, July 10, 2026: “America 250 Movie Event – Hamilton." Enjoy a free community showing of the movie musical Hamilton at 7 PM inside McGuire Hall at the Richmond Art Museum. Presented by Richmond Civic Theatre and the Richmond Art Museum. Admission is free for the first 400 guests who RSVP.

 

Saturday, July 11, 2026: “Meet the Founding Fathers – Hands Across Our Community." Held at Richmond Civic Theatre, this America 250 celebration will feature a meet-and-greet with the Founding Fathers cast from 1776 the Musical, patriotic music, food vendors, and a community art project.

 

July 11 – August 16, 2026: “A Creative Rebellion: The Spirit of America Art & Artifact Showcase.” Held at Richmond Civic Theatre, this special America 250 exhibit will feature artwork, photography, and historical artifacts celebrating the spirit of America alongside Richmond Civic Theatre’s production of 1776 the Musical.

 

Thursday, August 20, 2026: Coffin Bicentennial Series: The Levi & Catharine Coffin House & Interpretive Center Fountain City hosts Coffin Bicentennial Series - Levi Coffin and Free Labor Anti-slavery supporters had to find ways to challenge slavery when laws seemed unchangeable. Hear how the free labor and produce movement organized to confront Americans who purchased slave-made goods.

 

September 11-12, 2026: New Paris Applefest: America 250 Themed Drone Show on Sept. 11th & Fireworks on Sept. 12th.
