CURRENT TRAVEL ADVISORY:

Local Disaster Emergency Declaration

Terminating Level III Travel Prohibited Flooding Emergency (Travel Warning)

And

Declaration of Level II Essential Travel Permitted Flooding Emergency (Travel Watch)

 

On August 12th, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. the Wayne County Commissioners declared a Level III Travel Prohibited Flooding Emergency to be in effect in Wayne County, the City of Richmond and the Town of Centerville.  This Flooding Emergency was extended at 11:00 AM on August 13th, 2026.  This Flood Emergency Travel Warning emergency declaration has been terminated, as of 6:00 PM on August 13, 2026 and a Level II Travel Watch will be in place until further notice.


EMERGENCY SHELTER:

Red Cross has established an emergency shelter at the Kuhlman Center at the Wayne County Fairgrounds for individuals and families who need immediate assistance.

Please do not take unnecessary risk. Your safety is a priority.

DONATION INFORMATION:

 

Wayne County Cares Fund Supporting Flood Relief:

Donations can be made to the Wayne County Cares Fund, established to provide support to communities affected by disasters. Donations will be distributed directly to communities impacted by the flooding. Donations are being accepted online, in person at the Foundation office or by mail. 

If you would like your donation to support a specific community, select “designated purpose” when making your donation and indicate the community you wish to support.

  • Lowe’s in Richmond To Distribute Free Cleanup Supplies to Residents Impacted by Recent Flooding 

    • Area residents can pick up free cleanup supplies at the Richmond Lowe’s beginning Saturday, August 15 at 9 a.m.   
      Lowe’s associates will distribute more than 330 Lowe’s buckets filled with supplies. Each bucket is packed with sponges, flashlights, bottled water, trash bags, goggles and hand sanitizer to help with recovery and cleanup.   

  • Cen-Sor Security in Cambridge City (1005 E Main St, Cambridge City, IN 47327): 

    • We are setting up a station for people to drop off clothes blankets etc at Cen-Sor in Cambridge. 1005 E Main St, Cambridge City, IN 47327

  • The Jackson Township Trustees Office phone lines are out of service. Any Jackson Township resident needing assistance may call the township cell at 765-591-4917. In addition, they are using the Cambridge Christian Church as the point of contact for any donations of water, food, money, etc.

    The Golay Center now has power and is being used as a Red Cross Shelter.
