Randy Travis is set to release his first project with original music in almost 20 years and this time its really him. The upcoming full-length album of original material consists entirely of unreleased archived music that he recorded before his stroke. The album's first single, "Fish On," dropped last night. Travis previously sparked controversy in 2024 with the release of the song "Where That Came From", a song that used artificial intelligence to recreate his singing voice after the stroke in 2013 left him unable to sing or speak. The release sparked a debate about the ethics of AI voice cloning, copyright precedents, and the normalization of synthetic vocals in music. Travis' team didn't say exactly when "Fish On" was recorded, but it definitely sounds like the 90's.
