Dolly Parton, her Dollywood Foundation and her Smoky Mountain businesses together have donated $700,000 to aid the United Way of Humphreys County, TN in the wake of the August flooding. According to a release, Dolly chose the organization at Loretta Lynn's suggestion. Loretta's longtime Hurricane Mills ranch foreman died in the flood.

Dolly said, “I hope that this money can be put to good use to help the people of Middle Tennessee with what they need during their recovery."

More than 500 homes and 50 businesses were damaged after up to 17 inches of rain fell in the area on August 21st.
